Kayt MacMaster and Elliot Reza Emadian present:
In the heartland
In the heartland is a split-bill presentation of two solo performances born in the midwestern United States. Kayt MacMaster's "hog ranch, hogwash, or putting lipstick on a pig," is a site-responsive dance experience. Inspired by the lives and legends of cowgirls and showgirls on the land once known to some as the American frontier, this work explores solitude and self-mythologizing as feminist acts of resistance. Elliot Reza Emadian's "Jack and Diane" uses improvisational dance tactics to illuminate the allure, the futility, and the impossibility of the mythical American dream.
Please join us after the event for a small gathering & information session about the University of Illinois MFA program.
Please note that this performance contains strong language and adult themes.
