Embodied Meaning: A Workshop in Expressive Performance

with Alexandra Beller

October 12 & 13 from 10am - 4pm

This two-day workshop will provide actors, dancers, directors, dramaturgs, and choreographers with an actionable toolkit for putting Laban’s EFFORT ideas into practice. The combinations of Weight, Space, Time, and Flow form 80 possible specific choices for expression and functionality in Dance and Theater. We will be speaking and moving throughout the workshop. You do not have to identify specifically as an actor or dancer to participate!

Registration $250

About the Organizer

Alexandra Beller/Dances is an arts company focused on community and education. We offer workshops for artists and movers at every stage of their journey, and work to cultivate community through sharings, showings, and curatorial offerings. Formerly both a performance and education company, we have transitioned to be a hub for creators and movers to support their artistic growth, emotional and physical well-being, and offer a space where everyone is welcome to make, be, observe, invest, dismantle, interrogate, and share in artistic communion. Alexandra Beller works independently as a choreographer for stage and film, teaches through AB/Dances and in Higher Education, and is a freelance writer. The company's life of creative work is housed here. To learn about Alexandra's choreographic work for stage and film visit www.alexandrabeller.com.
