Ginger Krebs was awarded a 2009/10 LinkUP Residency to support the creation of her work “Rehearsals for Becoming Gods“
Ginger Krebs makes objects and performances that address the vulnerability of bodies in the face of violence by remote or invisible actors, on the one hand, and the seductive mirages promoted by advertising, on the other. Her work has been presented work recently in Chicago at The Arts Club of Chicago, the Chicago Artists Coalition, the Storefront Theater, the Hyde Park Art Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. She was awarded a MAP Fund grant for innovation in live performance in 2015, and the performance supported by that grant, Buffer Overrun, earned a four-star review and was chosen for the Best Dance of 2016 by the Chicago Tribune. Her collaborative 2014 performance film, Resolve to Be Ready, was screened in eleven juried film festivals, including Antimatter (Canada), the Athens Digital Arts Festival (Greece), and the Chicago Underground Film Festival. Krebs has been awarded residencies at Djerassi, MacDowell, VCCA and Jentel. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Performance and Contemporary Practices at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
