Emma Ladji is a performer based in Chicago. She has worked with several theater companies in Chicago as an actress including Red Theater, Walkabout Theater, Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Red Tape Theatre where she is a company member. She is a founding member of the live art collective ROOM|916.This collective was created with fellow theatre majors at Columbia College committed to ensemble generated, physical theatre performances that were created in response to non traditional performance spaces. Together they devised physical, roaming theatre pieces for the Chicago Home Theater Festival and the New Now Arts Festival in Amsterdam. Emma’s current practice focuses on creating performances that are more like group meditations than shows and the collective body acts as the main performance “site”.
