Emma Draves is a dance artist and educator navigating spaces of contemporaneity, identity, and innovation. Draves’ work draws from trainings in modern, post-modern, ballet, bharatanatyam, sociology, and Bartenieff/Laban movement analysis. Choreographic and written material has been presented at New York University, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, World Dance Alliance Conference, Dancworks Performance Company, and around the midwest; and has been supported by the Puffin Foundation, Chicago Dancemaker’s Forum Greenhouse Grant, the Chicago Cultural Center’s Dancebridge Program, as a Links Hall Artistic Associate and LinkUp resident., and – most recently – as a Sponsored Artist of High Concept Labs at Mana Contemporary Chicago. Draves is adjunct faculty at Columbia College Chicago, and has served as guest faculty at Northwestern University and Carthage College. She obtained her MFA from University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and her GLCMA from Columbia College Chicago.
