Links Hall’s workshops are dedicated to nurturing the unique creativity of your own expression, through the exploration and practice of contemporary methods with passionate, intelligent, and informed artist-instructors.

Links Hall is located at 3435 N. Sheffield Avenue, Chicago. CTA Trains/Buses: Red Line to Addison or Belmont, Brown line to Belmont, Clark Bus to Clark/Newport. Driving: parking is a challenge, there are meters and residential codes apply. Pay lots are available up to $20. Please call us for directions, suggestions. Links Hall is a second floor walk-up; there is no elevator or escalator.

CLASS POLICIES

Classes are usually open to all participants with at least beginning/intermediate skills in body/mind awareness (such as those developed through dance, yoga, martial arts, etc.) Please wear bare feet and comfortable clothing, and arrive at least 5 minutes prior to class to sign in and change. Refunds only in cases of illness or injury.

Lucky Pierre
Lucky Pierre Workshop

Focusing on the collaborative process, this workshop takes participants through Lucky Pierre’s process of collecting, contributing, creating, and editing performance. Participants will build short performances by engaging found, generated, and assigned source material using techniques Lucky Pierre has brought into its process over its 10-year history, which emphasize discussion and experimentation. Lucky Pierre is interested in a process of creating work with other people, not acting, therefore writers, painters, sound artists, performers of all types, and people of all ages and experience levels are welcome. Lucky Pierre is Michael Thomas and Mary Zerkel (founders), Tyler B. Myers, and Jeffery Kowalkowski.

Quick and Dirty Creation and Performance Workshop

Monday-Wednesday, June 18-20, 10am-3pm at Berger Park, 6205 N. Sheridan Rd.
Thursday & Friday, June 21 & 22, 10am-3pm at Links Hall
Saturday, June 23, 1pm-5pm at Links Hall (includes a 4pm public showing)

This workshop is a process-based movement adventure for 8-10 advanced dancers, who will work with Shanahan to craft an original dance through the manipulation of solo, duet, and ensemble investigations, based on Shanahan’s own methods and the participants' unique collaboration. Cultivate new work in an intense and condensed environment, build trust in spontaneity, and push the boundaries of memory, expectation, and habit.
